Grinding wheel is a round consolidated grinding tool with a central hole made of abrasive and binder. The characteristics of grinding wheel are determined by abrasive, particle size, hardness, binder, shape and size, etc., which are introduced as follows.
Choice of abrasives
Abrasive is the main raw material of grinding wheel, which is responsible for cutting work. Therefore, abrasives must be sharp, and have high hardness, good heat resistance and a certain toughness.
Granularity and its selection
Refers to the size of abrasive particle size. The particle size is divided into abrasive particle and micro powder. Abrasives with particle size greater than 40μm are called abrasive particles. Grading by screening, the size number is indicated by the number of holes per inch in the screen through which the abrasive particles pass. A particle such as 60 # indicates that it is just large enough to pass through a screen with 60 holes per inch of length. For the particle size of less than 40μm abrasive, called fine powder. Classification by micromeasurement, with W and the following number to represent the particle size, the value after the W represents the actual size of the powder. For example, W20 indicates that the actual size of the powder is 20μm.
